Day 9767

It seems to be embracing winter with open arms around here. Supposedly we are suppose to be done with it snowing for awhile as of 7am this morning. Let me tell you, that did not work out. My nice boss let me leave early today, yay not trying on ice roads in the dark today. Hopefully it will not snow tomorrow but we will see. The weather has caused some changes in Thanksgiving plans. We are still making dinner, obviously, we do still have all that food. Unfortunately my SIL her husband and kids won't be in town due to the weather and neither will DH's cousin and her kids. So we probably won't be seeing them until after the new year. They were going to DH's grandma's for Thanksgiving dinner but we were all going to get together. As for our guests well that still remains to be seen. Whether my brother will want to drive on these roads for turkey and if my dad and sister come, well time will tell. We will be making the food and if nobody but us and the kids are here to eat it, we'll have tons of left overs. And I will take some to work and share with some coworkers. I am considering starting my baking tonight so I don't have to cram it all in tomorrow after work. I am such a procrastinator I will probably put it off until tomorrow though. Now I am off to make dinner. One more picture of the snowing weather.

day 9766

For all you out there who doesn't have snow yet.
So it started snowing yesterday but it didn't stick. Then it rain, after that it froze and then it snowed. It wasn't snowing this morning when I went to work but it spent most of the day lightly snowing. When I got off at 5 it was nice and dark and freezing rain mixed with snow. Not so fun to drive in it. I really don't mind snow and driving in snow isn't really all that bad but I prefer to do it in daylight sans the ice. Some people get super happy about it which frankly I don't understand. Sure it can be pretty but it melts and then freezes and then you get to drive on ice with idiots who don't know what they are doing during the day little lone in the dark. Now if I didn't have to drive in it or only during the daylight it wouldn't make me quite so cranky. But as it is I am cranky. Then again it would be nice if I didn't have to drive five miles out of town to get my kids in the dark and then drive five miles back to town and then through town in it in the dark. It should wait to snow until the last week of December when I don't have to work and therefore won't have to drive in it in the dark. Oh did I mention it is still snowing. A nice solid layer of snow to protect that ice on the roads and make sure it doesn't melt.  Tomorrow morning should make interesting for driving to work. This morning wasn't even bad and there was multiple accidents with injuries, tomorrow will probably be worse. Poor DH got stuck doing OT at his job because of call ins. He got a split but it means he has to drive in it around 3 am. No fun for him I am sure. Not that it bothers him, all the years of driving in Alaska I am sure. Personally it takes me awhile to adjust to having to drive in it. Hope all your Mondays were swell.

Thanksgiving

So Thanksgiving is in one week. I am looking forward to the food. What can I say I love food, thanksgiving was my favorite holiday as a kid. So, I will share our THANKSGIVING DINNER MENU for next week. We are having the following (or at least that's the current plan).
• Oven Roasted Turkey
• Turkey Stuffing
• Turkey Gravy
• Garlic & Sour cream Mashed Potatoes
• Cranberry Sauce
• Whipped Sweet Potatoes with a Marshmallow Crust
• Macaroni casserole
• Devil Eggs
• Caesar Salad
• Fruit Salad
• Corn
• Make ahead Rolls
• 2 layer pumpkin cheesecake
• Pumpkin Pie
• Apple Pie

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? I really like the turkey or the devil eggs.  My husband it's the sweet potatoes. For my kids it's the pies of course. Lol.

17 November 2010

Sometimes life just isn't what you hope for, sometimes it is more. Sometimes it is much much less. And sometimes if you are unlucky not only is it so very much more less (ah the horrible grammar of it all) you are sick with strep throat on top of it. Right before the holidays. But isn't that the way it goes? Or so it would seem anyways. This time of the year is hard enough for my family and I as it is. Anniversary of our mom's untimely much too early death. So it's a hard difficult time of the year as it was and then add a holiday and family stress. Then have more stress and drama from multiple outlets in your life. Argh.
So my question to you all is this what do you do when life is getting you down? I draw and write but sometimes I don't even feel like doing that. At those times I just have to find something else. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile and I promise my next post will be much more upbeat.
